Voltage Brothers

Artist ID: 296

Electric is the first word that jumps to mind when describing The Voltage Brothers. America's Number One Show Band, they have been creating heart-stopping, high voltage music since 1969, when they were just teenagers in their hometown of Rochester, N.Y. Now every city on the eastern seaboard of the United States claims The Voltage Brothers as their own, and nobody can watch them sing, dance and play without jumping out of their seats to join in the fun.

From Classic Rock to Swing, and everything in between, including Carolina Beach music, Disco, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Motown, Pop and Rhythm & Blues, The Voltage Brothers can cover virtually any sound, plus add a few extra hot licks with their own original music.

The Voltage Brothers can time travel from 1920 right into the new millennium with an elegance, style and energy that is unmatched in today's music entertainment business. From the Cotton Club to the Country Club, from the White House to your house, The Voltage Brothers seamlessly blend hit music from music legends like Louis Armstrong, The Drifters, James Brown, Otis Redding and Elvis, with today's hottest contemporary acts. And now that they have added award-winning Georgia vocalist DiVonna Johnson, who has opened for Destiny's Child, you'll marvel at new covers of Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Caray, Patti LaBelle, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, and many more.

Originally know as "Funky Heavy," then "The Destinations," The Voltage Brothers have toured with the Kool Jazz Festival. They have appeared with Frank Sinatra, The Temptations, The Commodores, The O'Jays, Kool & The Gang, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Teddy Pendergrass and Earth, Wind & Fire, just to name a few. They performed at nine straight Super Bowls from 1991 to 1999. They were special guest artists at the 1993 President's Dinner in Washington, D.C., the Presidential Inaugurations of 2001 and 2005, and the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. The venue and show bills alone are testament to their versatility and broad appeal.

After being together for over 35 years, The Voltage Brothers now call Atlanta, Georgia home, that is if you can find them between bookings that keep them on the road over 250 days a year.

The Voltage Brothers are ready to light up your club, party or event with a program of music specifically suited to your needs. Check out their play list. Contact your entertainment agent and then get ready to amp it up.

Last December you helped us book The Voltage Brothers for our daughter's wedding (Selph/Brumby Wedding) at Sea Island, Ga. The wedding was held this Saturday, June 23rd at the Ocean Forest Golf Club overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The band was fantastic. They were the best band any of us have ever heard. The dance floor was packed the whole night, which is a great sign for the quality of the music. The band members were very friendly and entertaining, as well. The young lady who is the lead singer has a beautiful voice. I enjoyed working with Jim kelly. He was very accommodating and reliable. The band worked very hard and were extremely professional. I look forward to having an opportunity to use the band again. Please feel free to use us as a reference for the band. They will get a top recommendation from us.

Wedding Reception

The Voltage Brothers were fabulous - better than I imagined they would be. Jim was a pleasure to work with. We were thrilled when we heard that the band added a female singer to the group and she did not disappoint. What an added treat to hear Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell duets and other selections that required a female vocalist. They played our first dance and father/daughter song so well and happily incorporated the few favorites of my Dad's that I specially requested (60 Minute Man and Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy). The music was a perfect blend of beach music, Motown and more contemporary R&B, disco, funk - exactly what we were looking for. The dance floor was packed all night long and the band's energy helped keep up the party atmosphere that we wanted for our wedding reception. I won't soon forget the sight of one of my bridesmaid's parents starting the "love train". So many people were inspired to hit the floor after that song that my husband and I were barely able to find room on the dance floor! Jim and the band were also great about honoring my dad's request to stay late when we weren't ready for the party to end. I couldn't be happier with their performance. Please feel free to use us as a reference for the Voltage Brothers. I'll be singing (no pun intended) their praises to everyone for a long time...

The party was great. Jim Kelly could not have been nicer to work with. The band was fantastic and the dance floor was packed until the end of the party at 1:00am. The horns are the difference maker. Thanks.

The Voltage Brothers were absolutely wonderful! They haven't lost any of their talent over the years! Their attitudes were excellent and they were wonderful to work with. They played a great variety of music for our students, and we were very happy with them!

Wedding Reception

Not were they only ‘great’, but they surpassed any expectation I had hoped for. The ballroom was jumping, everyone was on the floor dancing, and at one point I thought the wedding cake would come tumbling down.
Irene & Bill Wallert

What a hit the band was! Around Augusta you know a reception has been a success when not only do the young stay to the end, but the old do too...and believe me, they did! Thanks so much for everything - you were all most professional anda joy to work with.
Penny Nelson

People that normally would not dance were out on the dance floor having a great time. The guests thought it was particularly exciting that the band let my husband join them on stage, as this is most unusual. We were excited to have a nationally-known band play at our wedding.
Elizabeth C. Lamb

The music was terrific and almost everyone who attended the reception was on the dance floor most of the evening. They certainly lived up to their reputation and we were all very pleased to have them there.
