Class Act

Artist ID: 15018

The Motown Funk Soul So You Can Have A Great Night Band! Class Act Band is one of the best kept secrets in Virginia. Playing together since childhood, this band has close ties of family, friendship, and a common gospel-rooted heritage. From simmering ballads to fiery funk, Class Act specializes in bringing soulful renditions of your favorite Motown and 70's classics to you.

Bandleader Stephon Hurt always goes the extra mile to ensure that the dance floor stays full. Don't be surprised if you find yourself the star of their famous "shake yo money maker contest" or if your favorite uncle's goofy dance moves win the "soul man search." Class Act's guiding philosophy is that their performance is centered around making your special day memorable. A client's complete satisfaction is their gift to any bride or event planner, and Stephon's attention to detail assures that the pre- and post-show workings of the band are as well-choreographed as their on-stage dance moves.

Hi Mark - Have been traveling cross country and just returned to AZ.

Regarding Class Act: 1- There is nothing they wouldn't do if they were able, to make the event as special as possible. For instance, not only did Stephon play during the processional, his lead singer added vocals. AMAZING!! 2- They not only played with style and energy, they were energized and moved and rocked the house down! 3- Even his wife sang a whole bunch

In other words, they were beyond description. The comments were not just positive, they were euphoric. One friend of ours is a booking agent for professional acts. He was beside himself with praise. You should know that their internet site sells them so so so short. Our videographer thought they were so dynamite that he is sending them the recording of the many sets of the night. Mark...these folks are gold Much thanks

Graham,

Class Act's performance was fantastic! The students all really enjoyed the range of music that they played and the addition of the horn section was neat. We will certainly be in touch if we need additional bands in the future. Thanks so much for all of your help and advice!

Hey Graham,

Class Act was unbelievable to say the least. They were very hands on and had a great set list to go along with a stellar performance. They really made our event extra special and I can't thank you enough for all your help. We will definitely be looking to book them again at some point in the future.

I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know what a fantastic group you have in Class Act.I worked with them on Saturday night at a wedding reception and beyond their talent, they were super easy to work with and get along with, which for a planner, is sooooo nice. I can't tell you how many bands I've worked with that roll in late, don't want to talk to me about the timeline, and act like an act "on tour". It's so refreshing to work with a group who "gets it" - that there's an event going on and if we work as a team, it'll come off so much nicer for everyone -especially the client. I will DEFINITELY recommend them to other clients looking for a band. Please pass this on to the band for me.

Hey Graham,

Class Act was great! So many people have come up to me to tell me how much they loved the band--they were definitely the best band we've had at our parents' formal yet. And Stephon was awesome, very nice and easy to work with. I definitely think they'd be in the running for future events. I'll be sure to give our social chair their information so she can keep them in mind when planning things in the future. Thanks so much again for all your help!

Hi Graham,

I think both Chloe and I agree that Class Act was instrumental (no pun intended) in making the wedding a huge success. So many people came up to us during and after the wedding and just raved and raved about the band. They literally had the ENTIRE room dancing - young and old alike. They came down onto the dance floor and danced with us; they invited us on stage to do some solos on the keys - it was awesome. We got so many great pictures of Chloe and I on stage with her dad and the best man playing keys. Stephon was incredibly helpful and a joy to work with. He helped us through some iPod trouble we were having and the band ended up playing the first dance for my mom and I, which was a last-minute change, but it worked out great. They just had so much energy and enthusiasm and kept it moving for us well past midnight. They also played Auld lang sein (sp?) at midnight and did a count-down, which was fun for all. Honestly, we have nothing but glowing reviews. They were super easy to work with, and easily the most memorable part of the reception. Chloe and I owe them a big thank you letter, which we haven't quite gotten around to writing yet (there are so many to do!), but it's on the list. Also, we really want to say thanks to you Graham for putting us in touch with such a fantastic band and making the whole process go smoothly. Couldn't have done without you and East Coast!

Thanks again for everything. Best,

CLASS ACT was wonderful-really nice people and great dance music. The dance floor was completely full until the last dance-a very good sign of a great evening. Everyone loved the band-the female singer was terrific. We loved working with them and with you. Thanks for everything.

Oh my gosh-the band was AWESOME! They were so accommodating; I've worked with some bands that are not flexible on schedule, break times, etc. and Class Act was Truly a CLASS ACT!All they kept saying was "this is your event, we will do whatever you want us to do,we want your guests to enjoy themselves". I LOVE them! Secondly, they really engaged the attendees and did a whole audience participation thing which I am STILL hearing about! People had so much fun (there was a conga line of doctors at one point-truly a sight to see...I thought we were on a cruise ship). They got EVERYONE up on the dance floor and everyone had a fabulous time. I will recommend them to anyone I know. Several people are already talking about hiring them for their own events..we loved them. Thank you for all your help and for recommending such a great group!

Friday was a huge success! The band was just what we needed. They were perfect for our needs and fit right into the budget. This was the first year that people really danced and we have had a few folks ask if we will have them next year.

Class Act was perfect for formal, we really enjoyed them and they were great to work with. There were a few curve balls that we threw at them, and they were really able to adjust perfectly.

Graham,

Toga party was great again and Class Act was brilliant. Everyone had a great time, they were set up on time and kept everyone dancing until late in the night. One email sent out to the fraternity listserver the next day and only said "can we get class act at least once a semester?" Thought you'd like that one...but yea they were great, the party was wild, and we'll be sure to look their way again next year.

Graham, Toga party was great. The pledges did a great job decorations wise, as well as working the door and everything else. People loved the Class Act band, I heard a few people saying how we should book them again for next year. Stephon and the guys were very friendly, and super easy to work with. Thanks a lot.

Class Act was absolutely wonderful at our party. As you know this was a surprise party for my dad, and we were able to keep it that way until he arrived at the party location that evening. My father is not the type to show emotion. And, in my thirty years I can only remember him crying once and that was in sadness. Now I can say that I have seen him cry twice, and this time was with joy. He actually had tears in his eyes when he saw all those people there for him and especially when he saw the band. They sang Happy Birthday to him with my sister and I at each side. He was overwhelmed with joy. It was wonderful! Once the band got started so did the party! Stephen made sure the dance floor stayed full at all times. They are such a fun and talented group of people. We could not have chosen a better band for this party. Everyone is still talking about what a great time they had and how good the band was. Thank you so much for suggesting Class Act to me. I would certainly use them again and would recommend them to anyone else looking for a band.

Hi Jack, I just wanted to write you to tell you how wonderful Class Act was at our wedding. EVERYONE loved them and many people have specifically called or emailed to tell me that. I just wanted to tell you thanks for recommending them, they were a huge hit and really made the wedding so much fun. The entire night they wanted to do exactly what Stuart and I wanted and they exceeded my expectations, it was beyond wonderful. Stephon told me that lots of people took his business card, so I am hoping we will see Class Act at another wedding in the future. Thanks again,
Mary Elliott and Stuart.

Dear Stephon,

I just wanted to send you an email to thank you for helping to create the most perfect wedding reception. You and the band were absolutely AMAZING. Everyone including us have said "That was the most fun we have ever had at a wedding." We had never seen a dance floor at a wedding so full the ENTIRE evening! We loved the "Shake Your Money Maker" dance and getting up on stage with you. It was all perfect.

Also, thank you so much for learning the song for our first dance. The entire time we were dancing we kept saying to one another how wonderful you guys are.

We will definitely be recommending you to everyone!

Thanks again!

"With their love for music bringing them together, the couple was intent on incorporating their unique musical affections into the wedding day. The couple shared a first dance to Van Morrison's, "Into the Mystic. Early in the evening, jazz tunes were piped into the speakers that would later give way to a party! The band "Class Act" managed by EastCoast Entertainment, warmed up quickly and put on a fabulous show. This eclectic mix of Motown, funk and soul kept the crowd on their feet until the midnight hour finishing up with a dance-off that would put Soul Train to shame. At one point in the evening Robert, something of a guitar virtuoso, jumped up on stage and had an impromptu jam session with the band. The crowd cheered and clapped with captivated smiles on their faces while the bride stood on the front row almost as an audience of one for her groom!"

The Class Act Band was amazing! They were absolutely, exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Stephon took excellent care of me, he made sure he checked with me on everything. The musicians and vocalists were excellent and extremely professional. They were very entertaining and really got the crowd going, right when they needed to. They played exactly the kind of music we had requested. My father, who is rather conservative, enjoyed them thoroughly, he truly enjoyed himself. The young kids were fascinated and had a blast on the dance floor. My peer group danced and danced!
Callie Stone

The party was great and Class Act made the event perfect. I would definitely recommend them to others. They had an abundance of energy and talent. Thanks for helping us book them for our party.

Amanda and I would like to give a high recommendation to Class Act. On December 17, 2005, Class Act performed at our wedding reception and they were amazing!! If we were planning our wedding reception all over again, we would call them first! Stephon and the rest of the band were absolutely awesome. The music was great, the performance that the band gave throughout the evening was tremendous and most of all they were just what their name says, a “Class Act.” I am going to recommend them to everyone that I know and I hope that East Coast as a company recommends them highly as well. Class Act: thank you for making our wedding reception so enjoyable. You kept the crowd excited and you kept us excited as well. We enjoyed every minute of it and hope to see you again in the near future.
Andy and Amanda Hummel

The band was wonderful and really interactive with the crowd. Everyone really liked them and once we determine a date for next year I would like to get them back. They really were great.
Shannon Lynn Pharr

What can I say, you certainly made the party! From setting up to packing up, each and every band member was a tremendous joy to work with. The entire band went the extra mile during the entire reception and fulfilled each and every one of our special requests. With over 300 guests at our reception, the room was packed and not an inch to be found on the dance floor the entire evening. We can't wait for our anniversary so we can invite them back.
