The infectious energy that emanated from the band consumed the thousands in attendance, transforming the moment from a mere musical performance into a foray through the possibilities of musical existentialism. In other words, Sly did manage to take them higher...

Fast forward some forty years and behold another coterie of electrifying musicians ready to take you to another level - Ascension. The name itself means to go higher. Ascension is Atlanta's newest and hottest party band with shows reminiscent of the classic performances of the past like Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, and KC and The Sunshine Band. A good stage show is, in itself, enough for some bands to eke out a living. Ascension has taken the party band concept to another level. Their stage show is incredible and their musicianship is exceptional! All musical genres are covered from Mozart to Mary J. Blige. Whether you desire Motown/Beach, R&B, Classic Rock, Country, or Jazz Ascension is definitely the band you want to party with.

The band consists of one sultry, sexy female ('Chelle) on lead vocals. Chelle was the one the Commodores had in mind when they wrote Brick House (Sho nuff can knock a strong man to his knees...). Chelle is an awesome show lady and a crowd favorite. Then there's Raheem (Rah) on co-lead vocals. When it comes to making the ladies swoon, Rah is king. With vocals reminiscent of the great Smokey Robinson how can he lose? The two powerhouses on the front line are accompanied by the tightest rhythm section heard since the heyday of James Brown and his band. Put it all together and you have transcended the average party band. You've been taken to another level. You've gone higher. It's called Ascension.

Dear Mr. Thomas: My husband and I got married on April 2, 2011. We hired Ascension as our band and they did a phenomenal job! We first heard Ascension at a local jazz bar in Atlanta, GA and due to their high energy and fun music selection, we knew they would be a great fit for our wedding. Tim Anderson of Ascension was extremely proactive and reached out to us multiple times before the event to discuss the logistics and our special requests. Additionally, we talked over our music selections and came up with a playlist for the event. Mr. Anderson and his band were so accommodating and easy to work with. In addition to playing music, they assisted with setting up and playing the music on our iPod during the cocktail hour, formal dinner, and the band's breaks. Ascension took away so much of the stress of planning a wedding. During the event, Ascension did an amazing job keeping our guests dancing and having fun. The band played all of the songs we requested and was the highlight of the event. Many of our guests raved about the band and their musical talents. We highly recommend the use of Ascension for weddings and other special events, and we are so pleased with the service we received. Thank you to Ascension for making our event so memorable.
