Harlem Gospel Choir Performing at the "Concert of Hope" Before Pope Benedict XVI's Mass in Yankee Stadium

The Harlem Gospel Choir will be performing during the "Concert of Hope" this Sunday, April 20, 2008, before Pope Benedict XVI conducts Mass in Yankee Stadium.

"Harlem Gospel Choir is incredibly honored to be asked to perform, once again, for his Holiness the Pope," said Anna Bailey, manager and co-founder of Harlem Gospel Choir. The Choir will be singing "Oh Happy Day" and "Amazing Grace" and will then join Stephanie Mills for a joint performance of "We Can Move Mountains." Others set to perform during the "Concert of Hope" include Harry Connick, Jr., Jose Feliciano, and the Young People's Chorus. The concert will take place at noon as the attendees are entering the stadium.

"We are pleased that Pope Benedict XVI is continuing the tradition Pope John Paul II started, by having Harlem Gospel Choir perform" Bailey explains. Harlem Gospel Choir performed twice for Pope John Paul II, including once at the Vatican. The Choir has also performed for Nelson Mandela and alongside Andre Rieu, Lyle Lovett, The Chieftans, Lisa Marie Presley, and Diana Ross.

The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen and Anna Bailey. The Choir travels the globe, sharing its joy of faith through its music and raising funds for children's charities.
