Alan James the leader and founder of Powerhouse is from London, England and has an extensive career in the music business. In the early seventies he spent several years traveling and entertaining US forces around the world. In 1975 Alan was hired to be the lead guitarist for International singing star Roy Orbison. He went on to become Roy's musical director and personal manager for twelve years performing at most of the major venues around the globe.
His television credits with Roy and others include appearances on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, "Midnight Special", "Austin City Limits", "Saturday Night Live", Tom Snyder Show, and many Dick Clarke Specials. Alan has achieved in the business what many people only dream about. He was the "Paul McCartney" voice for KTel records. This was a series of sound-a-like albums that sounded like the original artist but did not have the price tag of the original. He also managed Roy Orbison's recording studio and entertainment company in Nashville. While living in Music City Alan befriended many of what are today's top performers and musicians and is a frequent visitor to Nashville to record and produce.
In 2000 Alan James was asked to guest host a regional television show in South West Florida called "West Coast Magazine". He eventually became the host and the shows title was renamed "Night Life with Alan James". With a growing audience of 350,000 the show proved very demanding and time consuming. With performing and running his entertainment company being his first love Alan chose to leave the show and move on. During this time Alan was still heading up Powerhouse one of Florida's most successful and in-demand corporate/social show bands.
