Like a jet of hot air, drummer Mick Mixon's last band, "Break Wind and Fire", burst quickly on to the Chapel Hill, NC music scene in the late 1990's. Then, just as suddenly as they formed, BW & F dissipated when bass player Nedwick "The Grateful Ned" Collette moved to Florida. In the fall of 2002, Mick brought keyboardist Tim Smith and bass player Ken Yow together to form the core of what is now the getting-more-popular-every-gig Franklin Street band. With Delta Dawn Thomas adding her smooth, sultry, polished vocals, Ted "Guitar" Hardin's dynamic finger-work on his Les Paul Custom or his Fender Telecaster, Jody "Z-Man" Zeugner on the alto and tenor sax, and Kyle Clements with his energetic, distinctive, rock and roll voice, there is something for almost every musical taste! Take a stroll down the Franklin Street play list and peek into some of the windows. You'll find hits from the 60's and 70's from the Stones to the Motown sound, Van Morrison to Bonnie Raitt, rock and roll to R & B, with some beach music, funk and even a disco dance tune or two mixed in! No matter where your next party is, bring a little Franklin Street and you will not be disappointed!
