One of the most prolific R&B acts of all time, Earth, Wind & Fire combines soaring vocals, layers of funky rhythms and a positive lyrical outlook to forge an instantly recognizable sound. The brainchild of producer/ songwriter/ drummer/ vocalist Maurice White, the band became one of the most successful groups of the 1970's, and its influence continues to be felt today in the world of soul.
Formed in 1969, the roots of Earth, Wind & Fire began life as a jazz-funk ensemble, only to transform into the soulful, more pop and disco-oriented sound of the group's classic years. By the mid-1970s, Earth, Wind & Fire was unstoppable, scoring hit after hit with songs like "Can't Hide Love," "Gratitude," "Fantasy," "Getaway," "Boogie Wonderland," "After The Love Has Gone," and "Let's Groove."
Earth, Wind & Fire has recorded an incredible 20 albums between the years of 1971 and 2013. Of these 20 albums, three are RIAA-certified gold, and another seven of them went platinum or multi-platinum. The band has earned seven Grammy Awards and been nominated for an additional 13, as well as receiving five American Music Awards. In March of 2000, Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band continues to tour the country and beyond bringing their classic hit to audiences old and new.
