Dirk Howell is the kind of magnetic singer that people just can't seem to categorize. You will love his voice. You'll love the way he and the band entertain you and your guests. Dirk possesses a unique style - one derived from his fluid, rangy and powerful voice - one with just enough grit mixed in. Dirk has lived in Athens Georgia since he was three. Singing together as a family was a practice in the Howell household and he developed an early appreciation for music. Dirk's earliest musical influences came from such legendary soul men as Sam Cooke, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, and Jerry Butler. The soul sounds of Motown and Philadelphia held an attraction for him that is evident in his singing style. |
