Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters is a blast from the past and the best party music of today. Assembled to recreate the excitement of the world-famous Cotton Club in New York where the rich and famous danced to the greats like Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington, Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters combines Swing, Motown, Soul, Rock and Current dance music into a powerful and energetic non-stop show.

But don’t let the name BIG SWING fool you. With over 800 songs to choose, you can customize your song list to suits your needs. Want 100% swing…no problem! Want 100% 70’s, 80’s and current dance…no problem!

Built around the philosophy that when a band takes a break, it kills the momentum of the party, they take no breaks and can play up to six hours NON-STOP!

Whether you're interested in a swinging sound, or the full blast of world-class horns and amazing female vocals on a current dance hit, Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters is sure to please your most discerning and diverse guests. Start with a few tunes from the early jazz era of the Cotton Club and then JUMP into the best from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today!

Looking for Big-Stage impact? Prefer something modern and approachable? No matter the style of your event, Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters offers costuming and staging options that fit perfectly. White tuxes, top hats and tails... or cool urban sophisticate... we'll be a tailored part of your special occasion.

Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters offers only the best in:

  •     Presented with four or eight horns
  •     Trio available for cocktail hour or dinner set

I Will Always Love You

I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Father of the Bride

Just a short note of thanks for your help arranging the entertainment for our daughter’s wedding this past weekend.

You know I am a ‘live music’ lover. Also knowing we were going to have a major wedding event at the Ritz in Charlotte, and we needed entertainment that would please everyone, you made it very clear you knew what we needed.

We could not have asked for a more spectacular show – Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters were absolutely the best show band I have ever seen. They were courteous, easy to work with, flawless in their performance, and they had all 300 of us out of our seats! The dance floor was packed and we danced the night away to some of the most fabulous music ever. They were fun to watch, fantastic to listen and dance to, and they looked as happy as we were the entire evening.

I can’t thank you enough for your guidance in the planning stages of this wedding, and the follow through making sure everything was right. It was not only right, it was executed to perfection. People who were there were blown away by the music, and will remember this event for a very long time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the recommendation, and please let the team with Big Swing know how much we loved the evening.

Eric S.

Big Swing was incredible as always!  Thank you so much!

Destination Wedding - Jamaica

I hope this note finds you well. I will give you a call when the dust settles for me ( I just got back from Jamaica and the wedding and am swamped), but I wanted to reach out to you immediately to thank you for your efforts in pulling things together for us. The wedding was fabulous and it was due in no small part to Jerry and the Band. They were FANTASTIC!

I have goose bumps thinking about it. I got scolded several times during the reception for sneaking away just to stand there and watch them. Everyone agreed they were the best wedding band ever.

My deepest appreciation to you and the Band. No truer  words can be said …. “the band makes the wedding”. And it did!

Best ever wedding reception. Can't wait for the next daughter's wedding. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Duke University Alumni Event

Janelle and Jerry (and the rest of Big Swing),

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You all were absolutely fabulous this weekend. We received so many compliments on the music and could not be more thrilled with your performance, your energy, and your willingness to be flexible with weather, construction, etc.

You were so outstanding and I’m so grateful for everything that you did to provide an outstanding experience to our alumni.

I hope we’ll be able to work together again sometime in the future!

They were phenomenal!  Yes we had challenges with the weather, but they worked with Katie at the Grasshoppers as she gave them choices about where to play and put up tarps to shield wind and rain so it all worked out.  Of the 4,000 guests who registered, the 1,800 who did attend loved them!  We had so many compliments on them from young and old.  We had to cut our event short by 1/2 hour and they worked with us on that as well.  All in all, they were a fantastic band and I would highly recommend them.

Father of the Bride

When you plan a reception for a wedding you want everything to be perfect.   You and your band delivered Perfection in every note.    The quality of the music, the execution and the energy were all first class.  Your band grabbed the crowd from the very first song and never let them go.   New Orleans is a city a lot of debutante parties, Mardi Gras balls, and BIG weddings.  I have not heard a finer band in all of my years of attending these functions.  I am just so glad that we had the good fortune to have been steered to you by the good folks at East Coast Entertainment.

On a personal note, the song that we requested for the Father/Daughter dance - “You’ve Got a Friend” has special meaning in our house.  It is a song that I would sing to both daughters when I put them to sleep at night when they were kids.  It is our song.  For you guys  to have learned it on such short notice and to play it so well was appreciated more than you will ever know.  It made the wedding personal for us.

You guys made quite a splash and I hope that your performance in front of our wedding guests leads to lots more dates in New Orleans.   We will be front row for every one!!!!!

Thanks you Jerry and please pass on our gratitude to the incredible members of Big Swing!!!

Great Time

I have seen this group for the last three years at the GoDaddy Christmas party and they are great. The play for an extremely long time for a group and they always stay as upbeat at the end of the night as the beginning. I'm always excited to know they are coming again to the party. They has such a range of music that it never gets boring. They always appear to be having a great time as well.

Everyone LOVED them! I am dying to recommend them to my next bride and groom! They were really fantastic and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them, especially the bride and groom. Thank you for everything!

All I can say is WOW. Growing up with my father in the music business I've been very blessed to see all different bands over the years. Without a doubt Big Swing is at the very top of the list. TOP NOTCH TOP NOTCH!!!!

The energy and happiness Big Swing brought to the wedding Saturday night really makes the difference. You are a true professional. Hope I'm fortunate enough to see you perform again soon.

New Years Eve Party

From the first note of the Big Swing String to the last by the Ballroom Blasters everything was a fabulous success. People danced until the end at 1:30 am which is unheard of in Birmingham, even on New Years Eve. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the performance of the band and the people in it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was the best band ever!!

Father of the Bride

Big Swing exceeded all expectations. They are true professionals , great showmen & women and a tremendous crowd pleaser.

I was impressed with a pre-event phone call to discuss type of music desired , costume request etc.

Thanks for all you did, as it was a pleasure to work with you.

Corporate Event

Just wanted to update you on the event last week. I can tell you that, to a person, we were all impressed with the band. They were professional, played a broad spectrum of music and did everything that was asked of them. All members of the band and crew were as friendly and accommodating as could be. Everyone in our group would recommend Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters for any event where fun and great music are required. Thanks for a great time!

Surprise 80th Birthday

The party was kept a surprise and everything was perfect. There were more comments on the band and they all loved it better than anything. Everyone had a great time, the food and entertainment and the guests were all in awe. It was a beautiful evening and that is thanks to the Bands wonderful entertainment and so accomodating... P. S. Jerry went far and beyond to satifsy us and was easy to work with.

Mother of the Bride

I could not have been more pleased with Big (and Little) Swing. They were such nice people, all of them so friendly and polite. The music was perfect, truly. Everyone, regardless of age, enjoyed listening to them and watching them, and almost everyone there danced at least a song or two, if not all night long. I believe the only exception was my nearly 93 year old mother! I suspect that a lot of people will be asking for Big Swing based on all the raves I heard about them that night and since. Thank you for making all the arrangements for Big and Little Swing.

National Kidney Foundation Fundraiser

Big Swing & the Ballroom Blasters were out of this world!! KUDOS to them for playing all the shag and beach music they knew!! Everyone absolutely loved them and just as you promised no one was disappointed. Someone even told me, "I feel like I'm in Las Vegas!!" Thanks for recommending them to us and making it happen. Everyone will definitely recommend them.

We would like to thank you and your fabulous group for a great evening! Not only did you sound great, everyone was so nice to work with, so professional, and also a pleasure to watch perform. I told everyone how great you were going to be and they were not disappointed. I have had SO many people tell me how fantastic the band was. Many have asked for your name. Thanks again and I hope I get the pleasure of hearing you play again soon.

Big Swing was FABULOUS! They were so high energy and people hit the dance floor the minute it was open to the guests and stayed the rest of the night. While they were good when we saw them a few months ago, they were GREAT for our wedding. The horn section had everyone fired up including my cousins who danced with them. The band was so interactive and made the evening feel so intimate. It was an experience beyond what I had ever imagined and Big Swing was the first detail of the wedding people wanted to discuss the next morning at the brunch.

My mom's comments was that while she was hoping they would take a break (though the younger folks were glad they didnt!), they were worth every penny. She is a tough critic so this says a ton!

Fundraiser for NC Dance Theatre

It was GREAT!!! Big Swing was phenomenal. The music was fabulous and it seemed the whole party danced the entire time they played. We really did not want them to stop. I hope the band enjoyed it too -they were really nice guys. I hope to get to go to a party where they play again soon. We all really had a good time last night, and it was a great fundraiser for NCDT. Thanks so much for all your help.

Ted Turner's 60th Birthday

Big Swing & the Ballroom Blasters did a great job at our Nov. 15th ( Ted Turner's 60th Birthday ) event. They were pleasant and professional, and most importantly, extremely talented. We've had a lot of positive feedback about them from party guests. It is always a pleasure to work with you.

Azalea Festival

Big Swing & The Ballroom Blasters were a big hit at the 62nd North Carolina Azalea Festival's 2009 Patrons' Party Gala. They played a great variety of music and had everyone on their feet on the dance floor. Multiple patrons and corporate sponsors expressed their appreciation and said they thought they were one of if not the best band we have had perform at this event. I would highly recommend them without reservation to anyone.

Corporate Event

In all the years we have done events, across the United States, there have never been as many comments about a band as there were about Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters. This was without question the single best performance ever. We had corporate CEO's, attendees of all ages and some pretty high profile VIP's in attendance. Everyone loved the band. From the very first song to the last song the entire dance floor was packed. Jerry and his group are very, very professional and were great to work with as we had a few changes. As you know, the band can make or break an event and this is a perfect example of how the right band can greatly enhance the success of an event.

They were FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! I know that they had a Great time with us as well. I asked them which party was more fun, their Friday night party in Richmond or ours and they said ours!!

Everyone from the oldest people there like Ashton's Grandparents, to all of her friends in the low 20's and everyone in between couldn't stop dancing and saying how good the band was. it was a wedding reception that will be very hard to be topped. They were so professional and engaging with the crowed, they were all very attractive and full of energy all night long and I think they were the best band that I have ever been with. I also had fun at rehearsal with them from 2:30-4:00 Saturday afternoon. I think that they will say they have never had a Father of the Bride come to rehearsal and dance while they are practicing their songs!!
