The sultry sounds of a tropical paradise come to mind when one hears the pulsing rhythms and sweet melodies of Havana Son. A Cuban immigrant to the United States, Rene Herrera created Havana Son. He was lead trombone for the symphony in Cuba and is not only known for being an award winning composer and arranger, but also a former Mercury records recording artist. This world-renowned bandleader brings the music to life through his piano, voice, and steamy arrangements. As a native of Camaquey, Cuba, he knows the true Cuban sound and willingly shares it with his audience.

Lillian Valdes is of Cuban heritage and adds her unique vocal style to create an intoxicating cocktail of sounds. She graduated with a degree in music from the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio and has sung professionally in the classical music world as well as with many Latin Bands. She shakes things up a bit with the maracas and the guiro adding a touch of the Caribbean heat to classic American Standards.

Playing authentic rhythms such as Son, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, and Merengue, they keep the audience moving and revive the feeling of a bygone but not forgotten era.
