Larry Farber

Charlotte Office

Larry's entry into the music world began at the early age of 12 when he started his first band. As a young piano player, he participated in several regional Carolina bands including The Rivieras, one of the southeast's most popular groups. As a student at UNC Chapel Hill, he continued his pursuit of the music business by becoming the social chairman of his fraternity (Tau Epsilon Phi) and became an active member of the student activities board. After graduating from Chapel Hill in 1973, Larry went to work as an agent with Hit Attractions. He spent 13 years there before he, Dennis Huber and Steve Thomas decided to merge talents, bands, customers and resources into an expanded East Coast Entertainment. Farber opened the Charlotte office of East Coast Entertainment after recruiting future partners Ed Duncan and John Roth. Since 1986, Farber has been actively involved in the growth of East Coast Entertainment into today's multi-office company. He has been active with several industry organizations (NACE & ISES) and currently sits on the board of the local chapter of ISES. In 1988 he started an organization called PATA (Professional Association of Talent Agents). Currently Farber performs in a band called In The Pocket and co-founded a private music club called Music With Friends which holds three concerts per year in Charlotte. Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight and Michael McDonald performed during its inaugural year. Outside of East Coast Entertainment, Farber has been an active leader in the Charlotte community where he was President of Temple Beth-El for two years. During his tenure at Temple Beth-El, he created a vision for a community fundraiser and was credited with helping raise over $1 million in three years. As a board member of the Family Center and the Shelter for Battered Women, he gave time for these causes that were important to him. Proudly, this year he was asked to be the President of the Carolina's Thanksgiving Day Parade. He is currently helping the city of Charlotte celebrate its 60th year of the parade by coordinating sponsorships and entertainment for the parade. Larry is married to Sheri McGirt, an attorney in Charlotte, and has three sons, Adam (21), Harrison (18) and Reid (13). In addition to playing the piano, Larry is an avid golfer.
